To begin the process, we sit down with you in a face-to-face consultation to hear your overall vision for your new dream kitchen, office, or other home space. Our team will make sure to fit your specific budget as we educate you on your project and available options.

The second phase of the project will cover the entire design scope of your new space, including the floor plan and a 3-D rendering of what the finished project will look like. We will walk you through every aspect of design from styles to colors and the functionality of your kitchen, office, or bathroom. Not only do we want your home to look great, but we want you to feel great when you enjoy your new space.

Our team of expert builders will then take your approved floor plans and put them into action. At Burkhart, we specialize in interior plantation-style shutters for your home. Our shutters are made in-house, never shipped from overseas. Our team will customize a pair of shutters to frame your home’s interior and add dimension to your space.

Take a tour of our Design Center in the heart of the Shelby Park neighborhood. Not only is this registered historic building a beauty to see in person, but it also houses all of our hand-crafted, custom woodwork, complete with natural light beaming in from the large panel windows. Come visit us for yourself and see our creations in person.

OUR STORY
The Burkhart company was founded in 1977 by Tom Burkhart in Louisville, Kentucky. Tom always had a passion for custom woodworking, having picked up his first power saw at the age of nine. After studying woodworking at the Penland School of Craft, Tom turned his passion into a business. What started as a hobby and side projects, eventually turned into the Burkhart company, providing Louisville with the finest quality craftsmanship and custom woodwork across the city.
Tom originally opened up shop in the basement of a rented house and continued to expand his reach over his next three locations. The Burkhart Company has truly thrived over the years with the addition of more employees of varying backgrounds, all contributing to the success of the company. We are eager to continue our growth and expansion across the Louisville and Southern Indiana area for decades to come.
